I do find forums, etc. to read, particularly in relation to the latest result on the pitch.

I’m not sure cas fans are any beter/worse than others in te RL world but you we really are a bunck of knee-jerkers.

Any win, and the team is better, improving, on the right track.

Any defeat and it’s slash your wrists time.

Even the greatest sports times across the world took time to develop. Success does not occur overnight.

we were all aware that, by and large, this years squad contained a number of new players, namy untested at SL level. The Club even acknowledged tihis and advised of such. When you have a 3 year programme, you should really make final judgement after less than half of one of those years.

Yes, tyou monitor progress, and I for one believe we have seen some progress so far this season. However, there are bound to be setbacks along the way.

I still believe Martin Jepson’s input and approach is a significant positive for the Club and progress, on and off the field, will continue.

RaoulDuke Sadly all I took from the game was our deploarable attitude( Robb a notable exception)to be frank I made more effort getting up at 5a.m for an early flight back from Mallorca so I could make the game. Yes I probably need my bumps feeling but at least I turned up. And for Lingard afterwards to say we lacked motivation, jeez fella you might as well just paint a target on your back, you’re the coach, motivating the players is your bloody job!

Lingard interviews after a defeat is always the same.
He needs to give the lot of them a kick up the backside, instead of pussy footing around them like they are his mates.

We know this set of players arnt good enough for SL, but after a full season playing it, can we honestly say they will be next season.
      Not sure myself.
Macca watts westy all well over 30.
Young un’s won’t be ready for ⅔ seasons
So this 3 year plan imo could turn into ⅘ years.

Maturecasfan They certainly need a rocket after that performance, I’ll forgive anything but lack of effort. Squad wise we’re short on quality and if you took Watts,Westerman and Macca out it would look really bleak. Take them out of the equation and I’d suggest only 8 of the current squad are or are capable of being Super League standard.I can’t help but wonder if Lingard and the boards willingness to write off this season has transmitted itself to the players, because some off them are playing like they’ve got a free ride. I sincerely hope some of them are unceremoniously dumped in the reserves for the next game and replaced by ones who will at least play with some pride. I’d be interested in what everyone’s take is on who they’d keep and who they’d let go.

In todays Rugby League we could spend the cap plus marquee and still get dumped out of SL, The board are trying to ensure a SL place and the squad has to recruited to suit the money available.

Is it right for a professional sport to be run this way? NOT IN A BLOODY MILLION YEARS ITS NOT

We all knew this at the start of the season and in all honesty we are in a better place than i expected, but that is because a team with a concrete guarantee of SL dont give a f**k about results this term.

WHY ARE WE SURPRISED WHEN RESULTS LIKE THIS HAPPEN? WE HAVE PLASTIC SEATS TO POLISH NOW AND THAT HAS TO BE BETTER THAN A WINNING TEAM, DOESNT IT.

This is my last season darnt lane and if my games were not already pre paid I wouldnt even be going this year.
Rugby League under IMG bullcrap has lost its appeal and is now just a sporting entertainment like the wrestling instead of a truly competetive sport,

I will be watching from afar

FlatCapper spot on. One of the reasons I no longer frequent the other Cas forum. It’s generally full of negativity, even some of the sane ones are losing it.

I can accept that people have a view but it won’t change the club. Moan all they want but unless you can affect a change, go shout at the moon.

We’ve been told by the club we are rebuilding and it’s not a quick fix. It’s made harder by the fact we have to sort out the ground and that’s where the money has to go.

Interestingly, wilkin was moaning about hull building their team for the future in the knowledge they can’t be kicked out, they have the magic points. They aren’t concerned about coming last. We aren’t afforded the same luxury.

Hepworth you sitting have stayed in the sun and watched it out there. The away support isn’t coming anymore. Leeds took about 250 to saints away last weekend. The clubs are being strangled but the viewing figures are better.

pirate not going to Cas is actually playing into IMGs hands. They want eyes on screens not on terraces.

We should aim for selling out WR and no space for away support.

Cas fans will always turn up if they see effort on the field.
It’s always been like that for donkeys years.
To be fair I’m surprised the attendances we are still getting this season.
Some of the dross served up down lane this year as been abysmal.
Fans so far haven’t dropped off. We’ve had some good attendances.
Fans are doing their bit for the crazy IMG.

Would like to know our average so far, anyone know.

67 years old and living in Scarborough has limited my attendance anyway. IMG ruining the sport has left a sour taste in my mouth,
If London and Hull pick up and we finish bottom we should be relegated, I would go as far to say it would be embarrassing if we kept our place if that happened,
If London manage to get above Hull they should stay in SL on merit and Hull should go down.
Teams like Hudds and Salford are adding all the free tickets to their attendance figures.
Catchment areas are all Bo****ks as well.
The IMG script is just a charter for cheats
I WANT NO PART OF IT
I may be an old fart but i can see what is right and what is blatantly wrong.
I have the motorbike and fishing to fill my time
I will become that armchair fan if i can be bothered.
My support will be only in the form of the daily draw and the odd bit of merchandise

Maturecasfan Yup, we seem to be thinking along similar lines, I think the decision may be taken out of our hands with some of those, all gone very quiet re Hoy who I would sign despite the fact he’s shown at Hull and with us he can throw in a bad performance,he’s still our best full back option. Father Time and injuries catching up with Macca and Watts, who knows whether they can or would go round again. Whatever happens we need to do some serious business to be competitive.

pirate sometimes I go with gritted teeth to matches and sometimes I’ll be off before the end. I pay my season ticket and do as I please.

IMG isn’t the answer but I don’t think they are being asked the right questions. If it truly is about eyes on the game and getting more money for the clubs, then the salary cap needs to go. Let’s get big stars over here, raise the standards and then the sponsors will come and the tv deals.

For some reason they want to weaken the league just to get cities involved. Wakey have no professional football team and still can’t get a regular 6000 at games. That’s poor stuff by any means.

IMG got into the sport in 2022 on a 12 year deal. 2 years gone and we have a lower sky deal. 10 years to go and with sky ploughing everything into football, only a new broadcaster could help but bt sports (tnt), Premier, Amazon, Netflix etc aren’t interested. I could see the sport coming off sky and going free to air on BBC or other terrestrial channels for virtually nothing. We’ll end up with a highlights package once a week.

So far IMG have got us a lower sky deal. we have had to pay for our own big screen we have reduced our capacity by 1.300 by putting the seats in princess st to please img so we will not be able to get our usual 10.000 gates at the start of the season like we have the last few seasons how much will that have cost

I completely agree with the passage from RaoulDuke
I am not clear what we’re trying to create to be able to back or otherwise any strategy!?!?!

Said this so many times on the board of bickering; is the objective simply TV money and eyes on - say so?
Is it a more competitive game - say so.
Stronger international game, or expand participation?
Is it broader geography - say so.
say SOMETHING - SOMETHING CLEARLY - at the moment we have an unbalanced framework which is uncomfortable for a lot of clubs, not clear for supporters, damaging the competition in that it seems to be irrelevant what London, Us, Hull or in fact any team does on the pitch this season to next.

I would suspend some of my bias if I knew the greater good we’re trying to create, but I simply dont get it.

mdean a clear vision is the bare minimum but most teams want something different. So whichever way they go, someone will want something else. But at least we’d know the why and wherefore.

It wouldn’t be unreasonable to believe that the rules brought in were to only allow the big teams to grow and the little ones fail.

That Cas hasn’t got a led sponsors board isn’t worth a jot but could mean we don’t get into the top league. With Mr Jepson sending people to the led board makers so they can evaluate it’s worth tells me that IMG haven’t given an appropriate reason for one being in the ground. Spending 100k on a board for “Jones pies of lumby” to pay 2k a year on advertising won’t pay.

How much do other clubs gain for bringing away support to Cas? It actually strengthens the opposition
Leeds took 200 fans to saints, so it’s not the facilities that’s the problem, more likely trying to get across the M62 on a night when a lot of people work 9-5.

Agree with much of what you say, I think the LED boards are purely for media, which I am OK with if IMG explained why and had more in play than just rules.

As you said, at least we’d know….. If RL and IMG together said - who goes, goes, great but our focus is on media and advertising eyes - fans are second and rugby 3rd. I wouldn’t like it, but it would be something clear.

But this framework seems schizophrenic in that we want facilities and seats in the grounds - that seems to indicate for growing in person viewing.
But LED hoardings I would strongly suggest don’t get leverage in the ground as most fans will have seen sponsors and advertisers logos 1000 times on merch, stands and programs.
So is it for tele? in which case then catchment is rubbish because that’s not the meal ticket.

It feels like an ugly cobble of all sorts, there may be a clear thread and vision, but no one is explaining that to me!

As a business owner I’ve never subscribed to the adage “It pays to advertise” to certain companies it does, but by no means all,our market is restricted and no size of spend will improve that. I get that many larger companies, the kind you see on the Premier League LED boards earn from their advertising but unlike Cas they seem to be National rather than local companies, who if you look round our ground would be very unlikely to see any increase in turnover simply because it was a digital sign. Similar can be said for the big screens, and I stand to be corrected, but I don’t believe there is one at Old Trafford or Anfield, Barcelona or Real Madrid so that would make a mockery of the notion it’s essential. Much of IMGs thinking appears to be if you chuck enough at it something will stick. It’s not innovative or creative, much of it isn’t even necessary and to my mind will alienate more fans than it wins over.
