George hill on a 3 years deal.
pirate Totally agree it’s an easy fix and keeps people engaged with the club and getting the injured players involved is a great idea. I think some hoped for more today than George Hill extending, on face value it’s good business and great for him but I get while theirs a tinge of disappointment given Hoy,Hall and the Senior brothers aren’t signed and sealed. At any other time folk would be applauding the signing of a promising young player. What it shows is that while social media is an amazing tool those using it need to be able to read the crowd.
I am unclear as to how we can help the club to improve their score in this area. I click and “ like” everything I see from the club on Facebook, Twitter etc in the hope that this helps but have no idea if it does. Perhaps a brief instruction video or article could be produced to spell out what actually helps and what doesn’t.
Completely agree, this is free money and takes 20 minutes per day.
We have enough players not training to have something from training, some little video with a sponsor board in the background, something of a profile of a player from a program past.
On this day - there is enough history there will have been a game, birth, death, whatever….. every day.
It is so simple to do, a simple tool to package that for X, FB, Insta and LinkedIn and our own web-site in which the content is lamentable…… if you want. Literally 13 year olds manage their socials better than we do.
Granted we won’t get the millions of views, but just occasionally you might get something that gets crossover traction and it goes wild.
You have to be in it to win-it……
mdean And good or bad, that’s how it works, every click, like and view counts, if you comment on the posts even better, tag your own mates in it and suddenly the figures are boosted. PT Barnum the American circus owner who knew a bit about promotion said “There’s no such thing as bad publicity” and he was spot on. Last couple of years the highest number of hits associated with Castleford by some distance were Jacques O’neills appearance on Love Island and the Joe Westermann video. Sad but true.
I did a count on x and Fb yesterday on what was a busy social day for us
Wakefield totalled 18 posts , we totalled 8 posts
The socials is part of the fandom score and if we are serious then we should be pushing this small but significant area.

Its simple mate, if the club post a lot more and we click/like every one it all gets counted and improves the fandom score albeit by a small margin
MJ asked for fans help and the easiest way to help is the socials

This is the latest one from Wakey, and it invites comments
"You’ve heard from Powelly! Our 21-man squad for Swinton will be released in just a couple of hours.
Who do you want to see in the squad?"
Its easy to engage fans, why dont we?
CTID
This is the sort of crap Wakey are posting on socials and it is getting likes and comments and lifting their socials score up, why cant we have one of our injured players managing the socials, or have it on a rota basis with the squad players not making the 17
Anything to up our IMG points
pirate I’d like to think the scoring system is based on some sort of quality control and not just as simple as a post and it’s responses.
You could literally send a post out everyday with a sinbgle item availabe from the club shop with it’s price. Not uch use in reality but ups the socials. Ridiculous.
The whole concept is ridiculous
Social media impact within each club is absolutely pointless. The only people interested will be fans of that club - why not assess the impact of the organisation and what they’re doing to increase the visibility of the sport?
Gauge the interest on gate receipts, away following and other areas not how well the social media department is doing. Flooding people’s feeds with low quality information is a good way to lose followers not gain them.
Imagine if a club lost their SL place due to them not posting about how well the grass is growing that day.
In operational terms I agree with you, it doesn’t move the game on.
However in financial terms, if you have 10 people watching each game, but your socials reach for advertising is 5M people - you have huge value.
IMG are not here to make clubs better or be fair, they’re here to make a model that makes RL richer and that needs eyes and advertisers.
My point wasn’t in justification, just how easy it is. We have enough characters in the squad to get something going.
