I was disappointed last night when the BBC at one stage were not showing the final score or the table amendment for our win, Sky Sports were showing the result as a draw and reflected that in the table, even though they were showing it as a Cas win and the Love Rugby League site also wasn’t updated
By this morning Sky had corrected everything but the BBC and Love Rugby League tables are still wrong, nearly a day later.
I can’t imagine the BBC doing this for football, cricket or RU ( and probably not if it was Wigan or Saints🙄)
We are now paying a shedload of money to IMG to improve the profile of our game.
The coverage though remains shambolic

We just have to accept that there is very little interest in RL outside of the North, always been the case.
As you say IMG have come on board to correct this but I'm not sure it's possible. I spent most of my life in the Forces and moving around the country makes you realise just how little interest or coverage RL gets, only time you get to speak about the sport is when you are working with other Northerners.
If IMG have any sense they will target Womens RL as the icebreaker. A truly national Womens league with teams from Birmingham, Cardiff and London would be a cheap and effective way to raise the profile of the sport. As has been proven time and time again the mens game is too high a bar for expansion teams in the UK, however the relatively young Womens game could be an area where we could have a competitive national league.

    Shameless
I agree with most of that and have had a similar experience moving round.

Ironically though a lot of older ones I talk to recognise ‘classy Cas’ from the days when RL was on national TV on a regular basis, but the Sky contract saw the end of all of the minor trophies ( some had gone already) like county cups, Floodlit Trophy and probably most significantly the Regal Trophy, our last Cup Final win.
Still very poor service from the organisation screening the RL World Cup though.

Just to add that I think your idea of using the women’s game as a flagship for national recognition and growth is one of the best ideas I’ve heard for raising the profile of the sport across the country.

TamworthTiger Yup agree. Maybe the C4 exposure will help a little but there is no doubt that we don't stand out in the SKY Sport crowd and that is a central problem. If I recall the Floodlit Trophy was on the BBC wasn't it?

Cas website had it down as a draw too this morning.

        TamworthTiger

I’m guessing they pull the data from a 3rd party source, same with BBC and probably Sky too which is why they were all wrong.

I think it is all pulled from Opta or the Press Association - whoever controls the data centrally, and they all update in line.

Though it did take BBC and Sky several hours if not overnight to actually get match reports up too, which is pathetic - even with golden point

And it’s now Tuesday and the BBC still haven’t updated it!

So just watched the Superleague show…from the Jungle. After showing Richardson’s winning drop goal they finished the show with the updated league table . They had managed to get the number of games played right but there was Cas up to 15 points following their draw!!!

          TamworthTiger cringingly embarrassing isn’t it?

I bang on about this kind of stuff a lot but these kind of sloppy mistakes are part of the reason why the game doesn’t receive the exposure it deserves and, as a result, struggles to expand.

If those of us who love the game are confused, anyone who is at the beginning of a love affair with the game has no chance of understanding what’s going on.

It’s like anything in life - get the basic foundations consistently right & do the fancy stuff later.

BBC Sport still showing us and Catalans as playing 15 games and us still on 14 points.

It is a self fulfilling prophecy - poorly covered and thought of, fails to be credible and grow, therefore is poorly covered by media because it is not valued and we proceed around that circle.

The product is competitive, generally speaking but we just can't get any momentum. There was a thread of comments on the All Stars game coverage mentioning the World Cup. Many non RL people commenting rightly that the only competition is from the opposite side of the draw from Aus and NZ, to see who loses to them in the final, with which it is hard to argue.

Doesn't help when we get national coverage like this either

Culture Secretary confuses rugby codes in speech at Rugby League World Cup event

Dorries thought Jonny Wilkinson's 2003 winning drop-goal for England against Australia in rugby union's World Cup final took place in rugby league.

"I've always quite liked the idea of rugby league," Dorries said in her speech.

          "My long-standing memory is that 2003 drop-goal."
