Not judging him in any way, but that has almost no effect on the current equation.
I would guess he must be considering alternate options with the length of time he has been off the playing field for.

It will I am sure however add to the groundswell of opinion being another out and nothing coming in.

He wasn’t getting a new contract and wouldn’t play this year. This makes sense and it’s costing us less than keeping paying him to the end of the year on a playing contract

I do hope they are clearing the board for new signings this year.

So.

That’s McLelland off the wage list
Mamo off the wage list.
Smith off the wage list.
Milner off the wage list.
With just Riley Dean in, who’ll be on peanuts compared to the others.

So where’s the money.

A few players that. Taking into account that the season is half done, you need only commit for half a year. There must be some serious talent willing to take 100k for half a season.

I know McLelland has been unlucky but for me, this situation sums up the club entirley.

How many times are we going to sign players who aren’t fit, can’t get fit or even worse, don’t want to get fit?

The powers that be never seem to learn any lessons with anything and even 2 relegations in recent history hasn’t taught them to stop penny pinching.

    Three possible options for me
    1) There really aren’t any players currently available.
    2) There are players out there but they don’t want to come to us.
    3) The powers that be won’t spend the money.
Number 1 clearly not the case as other clubs still making signings even if they’re short term,KR lost a full back, identified one got him on a plane,on the pitch and scoring within a week! Wire have just lost Maguire and am reliably informed are already talking to his replacement. Number 2,more realistic, there will be some who look at a club in relegation trouble and think no thanks,I get that but a short term deal to the end of the season…surely. Unless of course you get to option 3…we just won’t pay what’s needed. It is a balance, bit of a gamble investing now but what price can you put on avoiding relegation. For me it’s worth it in the long run. The amount we’d lose just at the turnstiles in the championship would take the club to the brink.

      Hepworth

      1) HKR picked Yaya up the day after hall got injured, plus the young fullback.
      2) wakefield picked up ⅚ players, so being on zero points didn’t deter them.
      3) nail on head, we won’t pay up.

our club are behaving like they dont care what position we finish in, no urgency to do anything about our dreadful position so this paragraph taken from the club statement was yet another false dawn: -

"As a group both on and off the field we are aware we are in a fight. Collectively and with the backing of our tremendous fanbase we firmly believe this is a fight we can win.
With the changes the coaches and players are making and a couple of new additions to the squad, we believe that we will have a second half to the season that everyone can be proud of"

        yorky

Nail on head yorky, from what I can see, we seem to be preparing for the championships.
If ctge club don’t care why should I or the fans care.
Before long we’ll be lucky to get 5k down lane.

Exactly, seems like we’re adopting a hope for the best, prepare for the worst strategy. The squad has already been trimmed and in Lingard we have a coach waiting to step up who already has championship experience. Lasts training update was a beaut, “we had two intense sessions” 😳 Apart from the players who were carrying niggles, that’s fair enough for me,but then he actually said some didn’t train due to their age! But that’s OK,he gave them three days off after. A result for Cas tonight would be not too heavy a beating,no injuries or suspensions and a hammering for Wakey. When you get to thinking like that you’re in deep trouble.

FlatCapper I understand we’d signed him whilst he was in the rhinos team and then got injured.

Feki injured in warm up match.

Both we can do little about.

We have been very unlucky with injuries since 2017 ended.

            RaoulDuke

Luck will always play a part but we seem to have had a far few lame ducks over the years with repeat injuries cropping up time and time again. Eden now springs to mind as one we all enjoy watching but far too infrequently these days. Is there a reason for all the injuries we get?

I could then add others we’ve sign recently, Vete and of course, Jacques O’Neill. One seem incapable of playing 10 mins a game and the other is on the books but, apparently, won’t be fit to play this season.

Most could not be foreseen. If we’d have decided against McClelland after agreeing a deal it would have still cost us. It’s luck but mostly bad.
