Wakey

Matt

They’re going to win the GF aren’t they 😭

Hepworth

They could well do,hats off to them for that performance tonight, outstanding 👏

stuey

Powell is an outstanding coach, wish we still had him, and it would have been us in the GF. In 3 years he has turned a poor side who were in the Championship to one of the best teams in SL.

Hepworth

stuey Powell got everything right tactically against Wigan and the players crossed the whitewash with a clear plan and executed it almost perfectly,1 incomplete set in 80 minutes is phenomenal. The system they have over there off field is far simpler than ours. There’s one man at the top and the majority of decisions are made between Ellis,Powell and Ste Mills,it works for them. Sometimes more opinions just muddy the waters rather than adding anything, can’t help but think there are too many voices at Cas at the moment. They’ve got a great owner,as I believe have we but he’s surrounded by the right people,DP has always been a good coach, hopefully we can find one of those. Where we’d find a Ste Mills or a Stats Man whose algorithm is unearthing this talent is a different question entirely.

Matt

Looking good for them so far… they’re going to rub it in next season when we play them if they do continue on and win.

Matt

Well it hurts watching Powell celebrate along with quite a few ex Cas players however the turn around over the last few seasons and how they’ve turned it up to 11 at the back end of the season has to be commended.

Well played, shame that we’ve gone in the opposite direction. Hopefully 2027 will be better and the beginning of success again.

On a positive side we’ve signed a grand final winning half back (unless Wire somehow pull it back!)

mdean

Have been busy, genuinely watched with nothing but envy - I thought their approach and plan was excellent.
Very few superstars, a couple but showed the value of a single simple message from top to bottom.

I don't think Warrington showed up to be fair, but we have had our own experiences in finals like that and they had some inexperience out there. Well done Wakey.

mdean I thought Walmsley was the MOM and surprised that Wakey havent offered him a new contract to date, we could do a lot worse that have a punt on him

Hepworth

pirate Absolutely, thought he was outstanding, full of effort, knows where the try line is and not afraid to do the hard yards coming out of defence be an excellent acquisition. When you look at what Wakey have achieved they’re not resting on their laurels and looking at further improvement for next season which is impressive, several of the players they’re releasing will be welcomed by other Super League outfits.

Matt

pirate

He has been solid all season. I’d sign him straight away if it was possible. QQ and Walmsley would go well.

pirate

Matt he has gone to Bradford, I fear we are going to get left behind again next season

stuey

We should improve next season ( as we can not get any worse), as we seem to have signed some high class players, but I expect every other SL team to also improve, probably more so than us, as most of them have also signed some quality players. Could well end up in the bottom 4 again. 2027 prediction -- we have improved, and the other 14 teams have improved more and we end up exactly the same position as this season.

mdean

As we sit here today, my instinct looking back is we look around 10/11 but so many variables go in to that.
Huddersfield hung on to Robbo miles longer than I expected, York shocked a few but they have more miles on.
Toulouse, almost no changes to date which suggests they are likely going to be where they were.
Bradford - not sure.
Hull, they're due a good one.

Early season form is always sketchy but I think we have to start fast next season, there is neither time or good will for patience. We can't afford to be 0 from 4 or 1 from 5. We've used all the patience cards up.

Hepworth

All about the recruitment and offloading yet to be done for me, some of that will be down to the new coach and if one of the trade journalists is to be believed we’re just dotting the I’s and crossing the t’s on that one. And if rumours are to be believed we’re negotiating the release of 4/5 of the current squad,if that’s the case it’s a question of how strong the replacements are. But while all this rumbles on the talent pool is getting smaller.

mdean

@Hepworth honestly, I am not actually sure squad recruitment for squad recruitment from here will make as much difference as the whole leadership approach this time around.

Our bigger names, Sloane, Taffe, Maps, Cook etc are locked. The bigger variable is the leadership and messaging. If you look at Wakey, even when he had people laughing up their sleeves 20 months ago the wakey leadership set a pathway and every single leader from the man to Daryl, DK, Captain to kit man aligned and that has heft.

A bunch of blokes being happy about something can't always make it good - but 1 or 2 out of 20 who want to make something poor will always succeed.

mdean
The longer the coaching fiasco goes on the worse it will be for the recruitment, what is wrong with this club?
I cant remember a season in the last 20 where we haven't imploded to a certain degree, i used to hate the off season for that reason but its happening all the year round nowadays.
We are running out of time as a SL club and in my opinion , next season will be crucial if we are to remain at the top table but here we are still fannying about.
