RaoulDuke Brown is English so losing Stimson means another overseas, which is good. Cas have done well with UK players but there’s better ability from Oz. I would want all our 10 overseas to be at worst in the first 17 players, if not it’s a waste.
Maturecasfan Tbh do we really need 10 overseas players. Just because the limit is 10 don’t mean we have to fill it with any Tom dick or Harry just for the sake off it.
RaoulDuke Maturecasfan our player pool is so poor we need to fill all the places. There aren’t enough good players to full 14 teams. Even less with possibly 15 teams next year. That’s the reason we are working so hard with the juniors system. To recruit established UK players means we pay over the odds.
yorky the problem is, we have gone for quantity not quality & it shows with the dreadful performance of all imports except Mamapaplangi, it just shows with Wigan, when you take out field or french or both they struggle ie 2 decent aussies are better than 10 useless ones
stuey Brown not arriving till the end of the season. [](https://)https://www.seriousaboutrl.com/rugby-league-news-castleford-tigers-boss-denies-knowledge-of-immediate-move-for-hull-kr-man-but-future-confirmed-115328/
Hepworth Quite a few teams seem to be looking at filling at least some of next season’s quota spots quite early and the emphasis seems very much on quality rather than quantity. If you can replace one of your current crop of overseas players with a homegrown player of equal ability it would seem crazy not to. Brown would be a perfect example,if he came to us and we were able to release a Stimson/Greacen to free up a spot to bring in a Walker or Nikorima surely that would be a bit of a no brainier. Only issue then is salary and the number of marquis players you are allowed or can afford. I’m sure some of the players we’re discussing or have already signed will fall into that marquis category. Whatever the outcome it would seem Mr Jepson is having to dig deep into his pockets. Hopefully the likes of Damien Cook will attract a decent level of outside sponsorship to at least help balance the books.
Hepworth https://www.loverugbyleague.com/post/kris-radlinski-salary-cap-struggles-28-05-2026 Interesting take on “growing your own” from Wigan and the effect it has on the salary cap. They are still the masters at bringing players through, and creative accounting on the cap, if ithey’re struggling everyone is. If the RL are serious about developing home grown players maybe we need to be looking at a higher cap dispensation to enable them to take the next step.
pirate The Salary cap has never bothered Wigan before, we suffered a year out of SL because of their cheating ways CTID
Maturecasfan HKR have announced jack brown as left the club to take up a position at another SL club.
Matt Guessing we’ll hear something in the next day or two. Squad is looking much better with the players coming in. Hopefully we can continue to climb the table.
RaoulDuke He’s a good forward and tackle player. He’ll be a good signing and again a Brit so we can use our overseas for better players you can’t buy overhere.
