Good news. Toulouse going down. What do we supporters want -- spending 100's on going to watch Toulouse in France in transport costs or a fiver in transport costs to watch Wakefield. The income from 6000 Wakefield supporters visiting us or the minimal income from 100 Toulouse fans. What do the club want 1000's spent on transport and hotel fees for a trip to Toulouse, or zero cost to play Wakefield.

stuey not what the club wants, more of what the ESL/RFL want. Though it does look like Toulouse as gone. If they have gone, any players from them who would fit into out squad.

Would have been nice to see them in the Championship for at least a season just to give one back to the years we went down however it’s a stronger league with Wakefield. I’d really like the RFL to start putting more of an effort in to help bring French RL up to the point where they’re able to support a league of their own - would help the international game and the wider picture too.

Rather spend hundreds going to Toulouse than a 5er to Wakey. Simple. Nevermind. Will spend it going to Perpignan instead.

I wouldn't of minded a trip to toulouse, couldn't afford it this year though unfortunately n probably won't get the chance again now unless they up the league to 14 after next year.

or the rugby league could increase super league to 14 teams & stop these stupid loop fixtures & the 2 games in 4 day weekends!!

yorky I like the idea of going to 14 teams and getting rid of loop fixtures. It wouldn’t necessarily stop 2 games In 4 days though as it’s still 26 fixtures and they won’t get rid of Magic Weekend because it justifies the playoffs. If everyone plays everyone else twice the Champions would clearly be the team with the most points.

I think we will see Toulouse staying in the top flight next year when IMG announce their grand plan. My guess is Leigh and Featherstone to join a 14 team SL next season.

Toulouse offer much more than Wakey do Better chance of better TV deals with Shown alot more ambition than Wakey who's plan seems too be just survive every year One less local team in super league would surely give us a better chance of attracting more local young talent for the academy? If a club is relying on away fans then they're not doing it right

6000 Wakefield supporters? What? They can't even get that many fans to watch them at home! The RFL should make Toulouse immune this year so Wakefield can go down from 11th, so they can know what it's like.

Pat For me we need more English based teams in the league

We need to have a championship capable of supporting at least 12 full time teams too. Then we'd start to see some more quality come through both in terms of the teams and players. Dropping one league down and suddenly playing against part time clubs isn't helping the sport either.

I think thats what the 2 leagues of 10 idea that has been mentioned was to try and cover @Matt.

If both leagues were all full time clubs with same salary cap it could work.

I dont like the 2 leagues of ten idea, greed will win the day and the top group will end up with all the brass, just like SL is now. Superleague needs 14 teams with 2 up 2 down. No loop fixtures and a proper magic weekend with fixtures dependant on league positions the week before magic, 1 v 2, 3 v 4 etc

Overseas restricting to 3 per club , no exceptions, if not uk born then that player takes a quota spot, the quality may drop slightly till they all get up to speed,

The championship also needs the same format 14 teams summer bash etc

Isn't enough money for 14 teams as it is and with 2 up 2 down you're just gonna get 2 teams getting the same usual teams at the bottom

The split of the money aside, 14 teams is the most sensible decision all round.

14 teams is the ideal answer but there are two major problems. First is the obvious one, money. To split it an extra two ways just isn't viable with this current TV deal. Secondly, the player pool. There just isn't enough quality players around to justify it and would dilute the standard of the 'elite' competition still further. Leigh will come up but they are doing it with 14 or overseas players, something they can't do in super league. Fev are a part time team who have a large chunk of the top end championship-standard 'seasoned professionals' in their ranks. But these guys are mostly no longer top level standard and now have other careers outside the game that they aren't going to give up for a year in super league. There is the odd diamond in the rough kicking around the other clubs, Tee Ritson, Luke Hooley etc but they are already getting snapped up super league clubs. The NRL is expanding so it keeps getting harder to recruit from there and as Toulouse have shown the standard of French players isn't yet of top level rugby so that competition isn't an option either. Chuck in Brexit rules now making visa and work permits harder to get and you have the perfect storm.

Anyway a long-winded way of saying they will drop it to 10 before they go to 14!

If they drop to 10 they may as well just shut up shop, its boring enough seeing the same teams in the loop fixtures and losing 2 top clubs will just force more players to jack in or even go to Yawnion to earn a crust. as for quality , that will level itself up especially if the overseas quota is cut to 3 per club. Players have to play to improve and the young british guys cant get a gig because of the number of clubs and the number of overseas players. as i said it may take a few years to get that quality back but at least we will be growing British quality players
