So with the latest news coming out that London must be in SL otherwise the NRL deal won’t go ahead how do they plan on getting around the grading?
It looks highly doubtful that any current SL club will be dropped, and highly unfair considering the season is over and all clubs will be planning season ticket renewals, signings etc.
That means expanding the competition to 15 clubs - will that have funding implications seen as two clubs already don’t get the full amount and it also pulls the Magic Weekend in to discussion as London won’t have anyone to play. Then the season becomes awkward as each week one team won’t have a match.
I get that RL desperately wants London and the South to work but how many more times do we need to go through this failed experiment. They’ve tried at many different stadiums, rebranded to see if that would attract the RU fans and none of it brought any changes.
Focus on what we have to begin with - sort the championship out, get more kids playing RL and invest in the academies. One club in London isn’t going to change anything.
