pirate Does anyone have a list of released, retained and incoming players? Cant wait for the season to start 😇 CTID
Hepworth Did it I’ll have a crack 🤣 Outgoing (confirmed) Mellor Westerman Asi Stimson Hall Robb Outgoing(Rumoured) Ravalawa Weaver Incoming (Confirmed) Cook Feagai Sloan(😳) Johnson Lino McNamara. Incomings (Rumoured) Mulhern(Unless I missed that being confirmed) Obviously that’s according to my memory so may have missed someone in or out. I’d be very surprised if that’s the end of our recruitment,I know we’ve missed out on a couple of pack targets and we do need to strengthen there and I dare say some of the other contracted players will depart if we (MJ) are prepared to may them off. Be interested to see who everyone else would like to see heading for the exit. Very few keepers in my eyes.
Hepworth That should read pay them off, apologies. For me I wouldn’t shed any tears over Macintosh Ravalawa Weaver Atoni Greacen Doolan Senior Not sure what or where Hill and Becket are doing now. Lane I think we’re stuck with due to his contract. Sarbah, feel for the lad but he hasn’t got the build for a winger, unless he could bulk up. Vaalepu not shown enough. Strewth we might need to start again. New coach obviously, new S+C a must, I’d go as far as to say Chester too plus one of the current assistants so the new guy can bring in one of their own. More than anything we need to break the culture there has been this season, someone who can raise the level of professionalism on and off the field, set standards that need to be met. All looks a bit doom and gloom at the moment but get it right and it could be a turning point.
Maturecasfan Not sure how true it is, someone spoke to weaver at the game yesterday, he said he’s staying. Time will tell.
stuey SO our back 7 is Taaffe, QQ, Mapps, Valemie, Johnson, Sloan, Feagia, with Lino, Weaver & Mcnamara as reerves?. Do any of them kick goals? As for the forwards Dupree, Cook, Lawler, Mulhern, Brown then who??
Hepworth Goal kicking be primarily Lino I’d think as he has the highest success percentage,Taaffe is also decent from the tee and as we know Weaver if he’s still here can kick. Not sure who’d play 13,a few possible options.
RaoulDuke https://www.yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk/sport/rugby-league/former-leeds-rhinos-player-says-ill-pass-on-castleford-tigers-coaching-job-9046481 The Walkers brothers have decided to "pass" on the Cas job,c even though they've not applied or been sought after by Cas. I feel it is my duty to also "pass" on the Cas job due to not being a coach and not being fit to do the job. I will also not be taking up a position as President of the USA. Jeez, they hold themselves in high esteem these 2.
Hepworth Can’t beat a bit of self publicity can you? The whole thing was tabloid speculation. Their joint CV’s added up to one decent season at Ipswich 10 years ago,a long period of unemployment and taking over a team bumbling about at the bottom of the league and managing to keep them there. Awe inspiring stuff. No great loss.
RaoulDuke I would think there'll be a lot of applicants. There's a limited amount of jobs in a small market. Especially as in Australia and now over here, there's more than 2 assistant coaches for each team. Most must want to be the main man at one point. We have a strong squad for next year coming along nicely.
Hepworth Daniel Holdsworth has expressed an interest,as has Jamie Langley at Leeds,Justin Morgan has plenty of experience and fancies another go at being a head coach. So plenty holding their hands up even before the applications were officially live, there’s another couple of NRL assistants also in the frame so while we may not be attracting the crème de la crème of coaching talent I think there will be a few viable options. Not convinced Rowley is fully out of the picture yet.
Matt How much would Saints really stand in the way of Rowley if he was offered a position elsewhere. They stood him down from the job he was employed to do. I’m pretty sure a good solicitor could wrangle him out of his contract / gardening leave without a fee being paid to Saints.
Hepworth Matt I don’t get it,I assume they’re still paying him a salary so it’s obviously costing them. But maybe Rowley himself is looking for a pay off and there just trying to balance the books and any fee they get will simply cover his pay off.
pirate So is it the start of another 3 year plan then? The assistant coaches already in place will hinder the appointment of a new head coach in my opinion. CTID
Hepworth pirate I don’t get it either. By the time they came we’d already chucked in the towel and neither have made a blind bit of difference. If Chester needed help till the end of the season surely someone could have stepped up for a couple of weeks rather than giving contracts to assistants the new coach might not want.
