Wakefield v Castleford - R17 Magic Weekend

Prior to the York match I'd have given us a chance, now I'm not sure. Wakefield didn't play too well against Huddersfield which is something and the weather is due to be cooler and cloudy.

I'd really like us to get some payback after our last awful effort, if the players decide to turn up then we might have a shot otherwise it could be a bad afternoon in Liverpool.

Hopefully York, our near neighbours, will now do us a favour and beat Huddersfield twice in the next 4 weeks. I am concerned that Hudds may finish above us and then we would go down.

What would be a big help is if we can keep our average home attendance above 7,500 the extra 0.5 points from IMG could prove invaluable. We’re on target for that and have teams visiting that at least travel in some numbers,the fly in the ointment being Catalan who bring hardly anyone,a low crowd for that one could be disastrous. The club need to push the boat out on the ticket offer front,whether thats £5 tickets,free kids I don’t care we need a full ground. Lessons can be learned from what Wakey did for the Huddersfield game, It works!

Do we know by what metrics the 14 sides will be selected for SL, London will come in so who of the bottom 5 are most at risk?

It should be based on IMG gradings, but we all know it won`t be, as London will be promoted even if they are 30th in the gradings list. I doubt if York, Toulouse or Bradford will be relegated, even if either of them finish bottom, as they are seen as development clubs. It will be Huddersfield, Castleford or Hull who gets the chop ( whoever finishes the lowest).

Let’s say it’s us.
All these players coming over next year to play in SL on SL contracts.
What will happen to them.

Same with hull fc and Hudds.

My gut feeling is it may be york, rumour as it are in financial trouble.

It was only a rumour that York are in financial difficulties, and the club have denied it. If they are, it is no wonder as Toulouse and York get 1/2 the amont of funding as the other 12 clubs. WHY? Surely all clubs should get the same amount.

If we’ve made all these over seas signings, surely the club have been told we are safe.
If it is us, what happens to the Aussie signings who are preparing to come over here.
Do they get told they are out of a job.

Not sure it’s a rumour,creditable sources have said they’d asked for an early payment of their funding due to temporary cash flow issues. This would theoretically put them under special measures from the RFL who would verify Yorks current financial position. York are adamant it was a temporary issue which has now been addressed. If that’s the case their IMG score would be unaffected. I’ve seen this reported in the I paper and on a Vlog put out by some of the leading sport journalists. Can’t believe either would risk that if they didn’t have supporting evidence.

From what I can gather the lack of home games during the month along with the pitch being relaid left them short for that month so they asked for an advance.

They also receive less cash along with Toulouse which I don’t agree with, especially when Bradford get the same amount as everyone else.

After I thought we had turned a corner a few weeks ago the last 2 performances have been embarrassing.

Well that was a shocker,never competitive from minute one,awful performance,and if we hadn’t had the run of the green early doors could have been and probably deserved to be far worse.

This is so hard for me to say but, we deserve to be dumped out of the league, this is the lowest point of my 55 ish years of support.
Gutless, careless and not a single one of them are fit to wear the shirt, even Mapps and qq looked despondent
