I'd have him. Experienced enough and we're struggling in the HB department at the moment.

I can't see how this works for anyone. Doesn't do us any favours over and above a season, he wouldn't sign for a one year - feels a bit naff all round. I have no doubt he wants a 2-3 year SL deal, he is getting to last contract territory, but we can't have a luxury passenger and have to build something for the 3-5 year period.

mdean Depends on the contract terms. If it's a short deal until the end of the season or even in to next while we source a new half back then I don't have any issues. If we're keeping him on for any longer than that then the deal looks a little more off putting.

If the money is right I would take him but wouldn't pay over the odds. Him and Miller could go well with the likes of mcLelland and Rocky backing them up if we keep Rocky.

Experienced half. But the reality is that both Gale and he are off contract and I’d rather take Gale for 12 months as a natural organiser and kicker to be honest. Widdop strikes me as too much like Miller, the only benefit being he’s English and doesn’t count on the quota. I’ve got a feeling next season will see us run with Miller instead of Trueman, and Hampshire instead of Richardson. That leaves one spot open for an organising half IMO, with O’Brien cover for full back and halves, and McLelland released too.

Apparently Widdop close to signing for Cas looks like we've beat off a number of clubs to get him quite a signing for us if it comes off Widdop and Miller next season would be far better than what we've got now ...not saying much i know but I'd be happy with that duo for next season

As a temporary measure for a season or two I wouldn't mind. We can keep an eye out for some longer term replacements if they crop up at anytime.

Widdop and Miller will be better than our current state. Wont matter though if we don't sort out our centre problems.

I think we need a prop that will scatter opposition players leave them on the ground we can get quick play the balls then speed things up

Those type of props usually only play in 15min spells and tend to be lazy in defence leaving gaps all over.

I thought once he’d finished with SL he’d go back to Australia.
Though I’ve seen somewhere he as singed for us.
