Not a classic by any means but it’ll do for me!
Our first win! Wasn’t classy but we have potential and you could see how much the players wanted that. Hopefully it gives us the kick to go on and get some more.
Over riding feeling of relief right now. It wasn’t pretty at all and it could have easily gone the other way but a wins a win and the monkey is off our backs. An awful lot of improvement needed but some green shoots at least. Thought Okoro did well on his debut, Mustapha put himself about and with something to work off Rimbu looked much better. And hopefully McGuire will now realise that Lawler is a back rower. Onwards and upwards
Looked a much more balanced side tonight. Okoro a proper prop looked really good, always got us on the front foot for us to get a roll on which has been lacking so far this season. Mellor and Lawler in the second row together where they both should be - definitely Lawler’s best position. Rimbu able to play off the back of the quicker play the balls that come with the tackle drive. Thought the scoreline flattered Salford - a couple of errors and a dodgy video referee kept them in the game.
Sounds like the drama isn’t over with Salford. Seems like the players have been paid with another central distribution advance and clubs didn’t have a vote on it.
Matt For gods sake it’s never ending yet the RFL still let them breach the salary cap that they themselves imposed. All that could have been avoided had they offloaded a couple of players as they should have done in the first place, mind looking at the pack they played last night there’s no one I would have wanted. If last night showed anything it’s that if our pack can compete we have the ability to play some decent stuff. Sadly we won’t come up against another pack that weak and we still struggled to make metres first quarter, reinforcements still needed.
Bullock was their best prop by a mile, i’d take him. 125 meters i think i read. He’d add something to us, not sure any of their other props would.
Just to note, I said something was not right earlier in this thread yesterday. The RFL have made a mockery of the sport and is in particular by giving them an advantage they shouldn’t have had. If proved, I can’t see how they can defend themselves.
Derek Beaumont is trying to get them out, now I’d be right behind him.
Are the RFL an open bank account just for Salford to keep dipping in.
If what’s reported is true then the other clubs need to be up in arms.
It’s beyond a joke.
Sneyd’s release to Warrington and the timing would indicate everything is far from settled re their takeover. He was probably the only positive from their performance against us. That said if they’re offloading I’d rather take Atkin as a back up half rather than than any of the forwards.
Exactly. If the takeover was all but sorted they wouldn’t be releasing one of their better players. Something is being hidden from the fans and the RFL are clearly at the heart of it if they’re offering cash under the table to keep them propped up.
We’ve heard nothing from the new owners which must be very worrying for their fans. The money hasn’t arrived and the rfl has paid the players but not the staff. Where has the £500k advance from the sky deal gone?
