I don’t believe any coach could have done much better with the crap Lingard inherited and the cash restrictions for playing staff.

Well I wasn’t expecting that to be the first announcement of the week! Clearly Lingard not seen as the coach to move the team forward,shame for him as I think he did well enough given he wasn’t dealt the best hand. Can’t say I see a host of good candidates out there,Maguire maybe could step up but I wouldn’t be 100% convinced, if Leeds have a bad start to the season it would bring uncertainty for us. Clearly with our new set up inaction isn’t going to be a thing.

He says ‘the players are de back in a couple of weeks, he also says he want the new coach to have the opportunity to shape pre season.

We’re certainly going to learn a lot about the clubs direction in the next few days, IMG,new signings,new coach,proverbial hat trick. If we ignore the usual suspects like Tony Smith and Nathan Brown we’re left with the unproven brigade of up and comers,assistants looking to make a step up or Aussies looking for head coach experience but their waters are already muddied with a couple of top jobs vacant one of which Brad Arthur is already being linked to,Hannay would be the budget buster, Lee Briers already turned down a head coaches job in Super League so does that leave Maguire in pole position. All conjecture obviously but unlike the IMG debacle at least it’s fun. Wouldn’t rule out a Jepson curve ball….😂

Feel for linguard, a nice bloke who got us playing to his style. He knew the players could only take us so far and we need better ones.

I have faith in Mr Jepson to do the right thing. He owns the club and can take it on the direction he wants. And he seems to want us to be better.

Very harsh on Lingard. He was behind the 8 ball all year, does better than most expected and gets the push for it. Good luck moving forward, he’s a good coach, a good bloke and i’m sure will be a success down the line

As for his replacement the it sounds like it’s McGuire. Not for me i’m afraid. Either go in a totally different direction or don’t change it at all.

The jury will be out if McGuire gets the role. If it has just been done to keep McGuire at the club then that’s very harsh on Lingard and also a strange move as he’s untested at the top level.

Sure bring in a more experienced coach if we believe that will help but to sack him just to keep the assistant from leaving….

I am taking out the emotion for a minute, trying to look at this like an elite sporting organisation.
From the outside, it looks like a thoroughly nice man has been cynically moved on in lieu of someone else. I am not in the organisation, but if the whole thing oozes well-meaning average, then perhaps that is the right thing?
Maybe change has been in the air and some are more open to a vision than others?

I don’t know in this case, but what I do know is a group of people being “happy” about something can’t always make it good but it goes a long way…….. But a couple of people feeling “meh” about something will always make it bad.

I would be quite surprised if Mags got the job and can easily see a clear-out of the existing back room staff.
New owners generally want their own team in place with new appointees having something to prove and have some loyalty to the new owner, so sacking CL is probably just the first step of this process.

If be surprised if we didn’t have anyone lined up otherwise it’s a strange move. If it’s 2 weeks to first training we may not have someone in place and that’s a worry.

But all in all it was a 10th placed finish could have been worse but also could have been better and who’ve comes in needs to look at the whole coaching set up. I believe the junior set up is fine but there’s got to be a reason we have rarely put our the same team twice because of injuries. Bad luck only goes so far.

And this is the time to do it. New owner new investment incoming.

I’ve posted on other socials but the move to Mags may be simpler than we could ever know.

Very few, if any, on te outside of the Club will know for certain what the training systems were, the game-plan meetings, the recruiitment porcesses (including who identified what), and the fitness regimes.

whilst each individual aspect may have had a lead/manager/team leader, they may all have been working to CL’s plan.

Mags may have a doifferent view/approach, and one that MJ is already aware of. Whilst this may techincally be the same voice, the words may be vastly different.

I like the thougt of delaney coming in and tryng to strengthen the defence. There were days when we have moer holes than a colander. This will also add to the new voice.

Either way, I have nervous excitement for the forthcoming week…

FlatCapper Well Brett Delaney has been released by KR with immediate effect so no prizes for guessing where he’ll be turning up. Has done a cracking job with their defence so will hopefully do the same with us. Already has a good understanding with DM and while both would have something to prove if they do have loftier ambitions than Cas it will be in their own interests to make a success of it.
