So if we put unsubstantiated rumours to the side we have Griffin,Macca and Corey Hall confirmed as leaving the club and discussions with potentially 3 others who could be heading for the exit door,with Cini the only confirmed signing. According to Lingard talks with potential recruits are ongoing. I’m hopeful the club have a decent idea of where we are at for next season and are acting accordingly. We’re going to finish in 10th place and if we maintain Super League status Hull who finished below us have already confirmed 8 signings and Wakey who are the likeliest team to be promoted a similar number. They’ve both strengthened significantly,one courtesy of being one of IMG’s chosen few the other because they are being bankrolled. The already limited pool of talent is shrinking,the better players already going to the teams with guaranteed Grade A status or to ones flashing the cash. We are going to have to improve just to stand still. If we’re not as has been said going to spend the full cap,I’m not sure wher that improvement is going to come from unless it’s the intention to have a smaller squad but better quality.

I saw the rumours about Asi the Samoan half back, Read a decent article in LRL about him and would look a decent signing if we could get him for a couple of years,still seems ambitious and even if we were just a stepping stone back to the NRL could serve us well.

Griffin plays well when he’s fit, only he’s rarely been fit, so no real loss.

Macca in his day was the best in the league but time and injuries have caught up with him.

Corey Hall just not good enough.

Hope we get the 2 aussies, sound just about right. Certainly on a 2 year deal factors in our 3 year plan.

Looking at Hull KR and their business: Parcell and King they’re holding no sentiment in their business.
Would be refreshing to be in that place over and above trying not to lose ground.

From a personal point of view I would be comfortable with a clear 23-28 years of age plan for 2025; setting out our stall to have a young squad and start a rolling cycle. Some clear direction of 2 players from lower grades coming in to the squad each season or something - really actually lay out a strategy above trying to get lucky with a Queensland Cup signing.

mdean Asi and Croker would certainly fit in with that way of thinking,both with NRL experience,still ambitious and the right kind of age. Asi be a nice fit in the halves, Windley still gathering experience and if Miler doesn’t go this season he will next. Croker for me be an absolute no brainer given our current front row issues,and with Wattsy going round I suspect for a final season another year for Matveyev to prove his worth either in the front row or eventually as a 13.

I think we all have hopes that we see wholesale changes to the team in the near future, with several signings to replace the current players we have who are just not up to SL standard, but will we?
If we don’t then we can expect to be languishing at the bottom of the league and will show that we have no ambition at all.
If we do, then next season will show if Lingard is up to the job. He would have had a pre-season with new team members and those we have kept and the first 5 or 6 games will be self evident.
Sorry, but if we see the same dross in these first few games as has been served up this season it’s time to sack him and get in an Aussie coach with new ideas. If it costs the so be it.

Just read that loop fixtures will remain next season and if as expected the only change will be Wakey replacing London it’ll be us V Trin at Magic Weekend,won’t that be fun. 😂
