Here’s an IMG thought for you…. As I read it, you only get IMG points for winning the challenge cup or the 1895 cup. Wakey wouldn’t win the challenge cup but are favourites for the 1895. If they’d have beaten Fev, are they instantly thrown out of the 1895 and kept in the challenge cup? Or would they have a choice? I didn’t see that match for Fev v wakey, so what’s your thoughts?

The whole of Fev is hoping, praying and crossing every digit for a home tie against us. I’ve no doubt their dreams will come true…

RaoulDuke Not sure if they have a choice or not, BUT the finals of the Challenge Cup & the 1895 Cup are on the same day, so if a team gets to both (very unlikely) the team would then have to drop out of the 1985 Cup Final.

Batley away—- MIGHT just manage to win that one, but could well lose the way we are playing..

RaoulDuke Fev wakey was a proper old fashioned cup tie played on a pitch akin to Shreks swamp,good watch though. The elements dictated the game, Fev took a deserved lead with them in their favour,Wakey levelled it when they had the slope. Cue golden point,Wakey went wide,attempted to move a lumpy brown object I assume was the ball, dropped it (Gale I think) and the Fev lad scooped it up and bog trotted 70 yards for the winner. I think the die hard flat cappers got him the last ten yards. Great end to the game. To be fair you couldn’t judge either side in those conditions,very even and Fev just got the run of the green at the end. So A for effort to both sides but neither are outstanding. Honorable mention to Isahiah Vagana who came on for Wakey, ok he was facing some tired legs but that lad will do some damage this season.

P.S. We best Batley comfortably!

I know we looked terrible last week, and haven’t achieved as win as yet, but for the love of God, surely there is no way we can lose to Batley? I mean no disrespect to them but we have to be capable of playing for 80mins at least, put them under pressure and compete in the tackle. Not that we’ll win the comp like but we should at least get through this one.

If lingard can’t make a plan to beat his old club on the ground he knows best, then he’s probably not a very good coach. I do think we’ll win and comfortably

Some shocking crowds at the weekend,Huddersfield didn’t even get 2,000 and it was Wigans lowest crowd for donkeys. No figures given for our game but guesstimating I’d have said over 2,500. The cup seriously looks to be losing its appeal.

Surprisingly low crowds. You would have thought that the Challenge Cup (being a competition that you can win based solely on performance, as opposed to SL) would have had increased crowds on last season.

Have to say I’m surprised, but the wife always said I exaggerated…..Attendance 2,015.
