A couple of shocking decisions,the red card and the ball strip that wasn’t led to the second try. To be fair I think our effort has been top notch, defensively we’ve been decent apart from the error for the first try. Inexperience has shown at times but compared to some of the performances under Last this has been a breath of fresh air. Fatigue will obviously kick in down to twelve second half against quality opposition, we deserve better, sadly Mr Grant has taken that from us.

When we saw penalty, six again, penalty in the first two minutes the writing was on the wall.

Magoo try came from an incorrect ptb on the 4th tackle. Then Mr Grant has the yemerity to penalise us for it on the next set.

To be honest, we never looked like scoring, but 4 or 5 poor refeerind decisions made a big differrnce to the score.

Difficult to score when you’re a man down. For me, the plus eas that we didn’t stop trying and didn’t concede 60+ like last year

Spanishtiger Not to sure about that. Catalans had a man sent off and beat Warrington. So scoring a try with 12 can be done. We really need to concentrate on our attack.

The VR advised the red card for Watts Jack Smith was the VR, you know the fella, that Jack Smith from wigan, him that thinks a tip tackle is a yellow card offence. I cant spake well done to our boys for the effort and after seeing every game this w/e, i still think we can make 8th at least

I feel for Watts, I don’t think he’s a dirty player and have never thought he was malicious, clumsy and over enthusiastic maybe but I can only think of one instance he showed intent. This certainly wasn’t that kind of incident. So should carelessness suffer the same punishment as intent? Not for me, the same grading charge has been levelled at Pele from Hull as at Watts yet the two instances could not have been more different, Watts albeit illegally I admit was trying to stop an attack while Pele led with the head to a player on the ground and then attempted to decapitate him with a swinging arm,clear intent. Absolutely ridiculous that the punishment for both these offences has the potential to be the same. From Watts perspective I’d understand perfectly if he decided enough was enough.

Watts might not retire because of the contract he’s on, but he may well revert to the half hearted level like last season. If not he’s likely to spend most of the season in the stands and Cas playing with 12 players regularly.

It seems it was Hooleys fault that Smith did not get a ban or sending off for his Spear tackle. According to the RL he “put himself into an un-natural position so not Smiths fault”. So Smith putting Hooleys head downwards into the turf when he could have broken his neck was Hooleys fault. You could not make it up!!!

stuey why are they looking to mitigate a referral? That’s the job of the player and club concerned. Dupree was falling and westy had attempted to tackle him, why did they not mitigate for watts? It’s double standards.

And how an attack to the head by Pele is seen as a lesser charge is just wrong.

RaoulDuke We never get to know what the process actually entails but whether we do it in the initial hearing, or any subsequent appeal, surely we should be asking for advice from the panel on how they would make the tackle?

They can’t simply say you’ve got that wrong if they cannot say what is right.

The player does start to fall but not suddenly, but even without it would be a smack to the head. Double standards again.

It is annoying that sense seems to have broken out this week, not last!

I think the two Leeds yellows last night were lenient being nailed on swinging arm direct contact personally and I don’t have a horse in that race!

Be interesting to see if either of them are before the disciplinary panel on Monday. Lord knows what’s going to happen when they lower the tackle height next season, 7 a side will be making a comeback.

Loving the every game live (Wife not so much) but these refereeing inconsistencies are just mind boggling,something seriously needs to happen and fast before the game becomes a laughing stock. Wire/ Hull was already a mistake ridden penalty fest without giving Rugby Leagues critics even more ammunition.

I see the fundraising page started to pay the £750 fine Watts received has exceeded expectations and any excess is being donated to the PDRL side and community trust. Nice gesture.

That James Vella refereed the salford game perfectly, its a shame he is off back to Australia.

pirate I must have been watching another game. He didn’t particularly ‘favour’ one side or t’other but IMO, he made quite a few poor calls.

One thing that worries me for the game in general are ball steals. It just makes no sense to attempt a ball steal at all so why do refs think every incident is a steal? Defenders have to wrap the ball to prevent off-loads but it seems to me the ball carrier can just let go and get a penalty.

Maybe perfect was the wrong word , but it was refreshing to see a game reffereed without bias, maybe thats what made me call perfection.
There isnt a ref alive that can go a full game without a bad call or two and as you say those calls were not made in regard of shirt colour
I bet we dont see a fairer performance from another ref all season
