It’s all a bit like those players,you know the ones,they’re absolute crap for 18 months and then miraculously regain some form when they’re contacts up for renewal. Maybe Messrs Grattan and co’s minds will be more focussed with unemployment on the horizon. Fear is a great motivator.

pirate Sadly i think a lot of us share those fears,so much negativity being written and said about the club,even if you’re capable of separating the bull from the factual it still sinks in. The lack of communication from the club is the killer, and even when it does come many are disbelieving as the people running the club have lost or are losing the trust of the supporters. It seems we’re between a rock and a hard place but I firmly believe if we saw some action from the club,got some honest discourse, the majority of the die hards would get on board. The danger for me is it’s too little too late,we’ve stagnated,years of inactivity have left us vulnerable. What I don’t want to see is the club sinking without a fight.

Still no news on our grade being rectified. What is it, 3 weeks now. Can’t see it happening now. We’ve been screwed by yellow livered owner/BOD’s for not being strong enough to take IMG on and getting our proper grade given back to us.

Decided not to renew my two season tickets. Don’t see point we could in every game at home and id still walk away after game thinking the result does not matter as the games not decided on the pitch anymore. The buzz as gone for me.

No interest in watching games now, when the result does not matter. IMG have already decided who will be in SL in 2025 and who will not. Results on the field will make no difference. Every match is pointless!! Leeds could finish bottom and will not go down, London could finish top and will go down.

Whilst i get peoples point on this for me the time to walk away is next year if the worst comes to the worst, not right now. May as well enjoy it whilst we can and go along for the ride and who knows, we may just dodge the bullet. Remember a year is a long time in Rugby League, the goalposts will have probably moved a couple if times by then.

Only way i see us staying if they increase it to 14 but i think they will hold off till 2025 for that,

That wakey didn’t do their work and get the right s106 should not fall onto the taxpayers to pay for their stadium.

Personally it shouldn’t matter and they should be where they are, but now they have a rich owner, as I keep reading, they can afford it themselves.

We are where we are. Should our ground rebuild fail to happen, we now should have the same access to the funds to complete our work. It’s effectively a win/win situation for us.

RaoulDuke You have literally just said, Cas have a square with two sides, a top and a bottom whereas wakey have a square with a bottom, a top and two sides.

If anything, there’s more control to ensure Cas get the monies promised than the ‘lose’ S106 Wakefield had to get their monies.

Now, in your eyes you may think this means Wakefield can lift fast and hard with the money they’ve already used but they have in fact used it and transformed their ground. The money is not the Council’s par sae but money given to the Council as part of a revised 106 for the Council to then give to Wakey to use to redevelop their ground.

The same thing will happen with Cas’ £12m, it will be passed over to them via the Council, to be used solely for the redevelopment of WR. The only difference is Axiom cannot start their development until the Council receives the £12m.

The money is to improve the WR ground, not for Cas Tigers or indeed, WMDC, to spend willy nilly. I trust the likes of Grattan less than I trust WMDC!

But there’s a difference. We are giving up a new stadium for the money to rebuild. Wakey are giving up nothing for a rebuild.

Either way, it’s done and the council want assurances that their “gift” won’t be sold by the new owner.

Not quite true, Trinity were promised a new built stadium at Newmarket if the developers Yorkcourt got permission to build the Newcold development. That got built, then the shenanigans between Colin Mackie of Yorkcourt, Box leader of WMDC, and our very own Sir Rodney Walker, put paid to any new build stadium at Newmarket. Trinity were left in the wilderness for years, lost ownership of BV to the bank of Ireland, then the money laundering gang and mani Hussain bought BV for a song, threatened to kick Trinity out of BV, the RFL gave trinity a last warning “no redevelopment of BV then no Super League place. Trinity basically have taken a mortgage from WMDC to buy back BV.
Just like Castleford, Trinity had to give up the new stadium at Newmarket to get a S106 agreement from the developers, I believe the figure was around £8.6 million, and the council had to receive that from the developers before they could pass planning permission to Newmarket developers. As Castleford and Featherstone, Trinity received £2 million from WMDC, and the then Trinity board put up another £1.5 million. Every penny above board. It has taken many years to get to this point, and I’ve no doubt that Cas will get their redeveloped stadium, but please don’t get the idea that Trinity have received favouritism.

You conveniently forget the previous two times the council have bought Belle Vue and GIVEN it back to Trinity. No doubt this 3 million loan will go the same way.

WMDC only care about the city and Trinity and are only interested in Cas when the council tax bill are sent out.

A new s106 was reapplied by the council when the new build was required. Not quite the same.

The s106 could have covered anything. Schools, care homes etc. The Cas one was specific to the land at Axiom and the deal with Cas over the stadium and subsequently the rebuild.

Honestly, I have no idea how anyone can compile a conspiracy theory based on two clubs getting exactly the same thing, via the exact same route, through the same intermediators but one is corrupt and the other isn’t.

Both Wakey and Cas were promised new stadia based on a new development taking place and the stadia built adjacent to that new development. Wakey’s should’ve been triggered by the new development hitting a percentage of size but Cas’ was up front. The only difference.

In both cases, and a rapidly changing business world, the respective developers pointed out an alternative option - to provide finance to the Clubs to allow them to redevelop their existing stadia. This was accepted by the planning authority, with the finance to be provide by virtue of a S106 agreement.

The 106 for Axiom could’ve been spent on swimming pools, care homes, schools or the Council Christmas party but in their wisdom, the Council did the same as they did with Wakey and linked the S106 to a rebuild of the ground of the local professional rugby league club.

It is quite literally a case of a 6 or 2×3

According to some Wakey supporters in the Northstanders group, the council received 9.6 million on behalf of Wakefield trinity but have invested only 6 million into Belle vue, is the rest “administration” costs?

If WMDC can skim off 3+ million from Trinity just imagine how much the will skim off of Cas’s reported 10.5/ 12 million from Axiom

I still dont trust WMDC to do the right thing by our club, they never have and leopards dont change their spots

My concern is that IMG said the grading would be a transparent process but they wouldn’t amend our result as it would be unfair to others. The question is why? Not fair on whom? Why not tell us who else has appealed?

It shows that the IMG/rfl didn’t do their work correctly in that they had to amend their mistake and ring us to explain.

There are bound to be problems but they’ve failed to get the initial process right and now the appeals process aswell.

Ultimately, I know it was indicative but it has caused the club damage.

The whole thing is a mess and it’s not going to get any better next season. I really hope we finish in a strong position and London do too - make it as difficult as possible for the RFL/IMG.

I am perfectly fine with - “this was indicative and there is nothing on it but a check in”. If, by the first kick off of 2024 everyone is crystal clear what they’re playing for and what tangible things they must do. If that is not the case then 2024 proceeds on current rules until BEFORE ANY ON FIELD ACTION everyone knows the parameters.

I am largely agreeable to standards being required - but they have to be clear what everyone MUST DO prior to kick off. I am also comfortable the bottom club doesn’t get relegated if, before a ball is kicked for example it is transparent we have to finish 7th for our cumulative position to allow us to stay up. But it has to be clear. We can’t go back 18 years where certain clubs winning the championship or finishing bottom were discussed later - make it clear for everyone before the season, or it is a bag of testicles.

Bearing in mind that only sone clubs have announced the breakdown of its IMG scores shows little transparency. IMG should reveal all as they are going to promote or relegate clubs.

The fact that our appeal won’t be heard because of fear of upsetting other clubs without a reason shows no transparency. Who or why?

That they won’t divulge the club’s who also sought an appeal or why they were appealing shows no transparency.

They are failing at each and every input. This leads me to believe they have an agenda and it will be skewed to what they want rather than a fair playing field.

There are some clubs that will need to work miracles to increase their score, leigh, Huddersfield are 2 off the bat. Leigh won’t win silverware, finish as high and retain their crowd Base on a losing team. Huddersfield are doing everything but results already. I’ve not even put Salford in their and they don’t have a stadium with a 5 year lease yet.

It is interesting reading @RaoulDuke honestly if you were not a RL fan is is utterly laughable that something which should be inherently positive and collaborative to identify mutually agreed improvements in standards for a sport could genuinely be so spectacularly fluffed up and seem so clandestine.

I have to say however that history strongly suggests that the RFL struggle manage meaningful change, this appears to be very similar.
