It’s all a bit like those players,you know the ones,they’re absolute crap for 18 months and then miraculously regain some form when they’re contacts up for renewal. Maybe Messrs Grattan and co’s minds will be more focussed with unemployment on the horizon. Fear is a great motivator.

pirate Sadly i think a lot of us share those fears,so much negativity being written and said about the club,even if you’re capable of separating the bull from the factual it still sinks in. The lack of communication from the club is the killer, and even when it does come many are disbelieving as the people running the club have lost or are losing the trust of the supporters. It seems we’re between a rock and a hard place but I firmly believe if we saw some action from the club,got some honest discourse, the majority of the die hards would get on board. The danger for me is it’s too little too late,we’ve stagnated,years of inactivity have left us vulnerable. What I don’t want to see is the club sinking without a fight.

Still no news on our grade being rectified. What is it, 3 weeks now. Can’t see it happening now. We’ve been screwed by yellow livered owner/BOD’s for not being strong enough to take IMG on and getting our proper grade given back to us.

Decided not to renew my two season tickets. Don’t see point we could in every game at home and id still walk away after game thinking the result does not matter as the games not decided on the pitch anymore. The buzz as gone for me.

No interest in watching games now, when the result does not matter. IMG have already decided who will be in SL in 2025 and who will not. Results on the field will make no difference. Every match is pointless!! Leeds could finish bottom and will not go down, London could finish top and will go down.

Whilst i get peoples point on this for me the time to walk away is next year if the worst comes to the worst, not right now. May as well enjoy it whilst we can and go along for the ride and who knows, we may just dodge the bullet. Remember a year is a long time in Rugby League, the goalposts will have probably moved a couple if times by then.

Only way i see us staying if they increase it to 14 but i think they will hold off till 2025 for that,

The crux of the article was the journalists surprise that there was an invoice at all as his and most other people’s interpretation of the 12 year deal was that IMG would be paid by taking a percentage cut from any new commercial deals or increases in Television revenues. It would appear this £450,000 was “overlooked” Assuming this journalist checked his facts before going into print and this article is accurate it will be interesting to see some of the responses now the information is public.

ive said all along, no one knew how much IMG were charging the RFL & its still not clear, this 450k will be just the tip of the iceburg & i wouldnt be surprised if this kind of ongoing expense will be the straw that brakes the camel back?

Almost a month now when we were told we were going to get our points back and nothing confirmed yet. I have got a feeling we are not going to get them back and we will be in the Championship in 2025 even if we win every match in 2024.

The delay looks designed to cause as much disruption for Cas as possible and the club deserves credit for how they have continued to attract sponsors.

Rugby League is a joke in my eyes.
If we manage to get enough grading points to be in the top 12 but finish bottom, i dont want us to stay up under those circumstances, we wouldnt deserve to

the problem for RL & IMG is they are trying to squeeze 14 into 12 & its a problem of their own making having encouraged all teams to get themselves in order, they now find they have dug a hole they cant get out of.
They are actually killing off ambition because there just isnt room for 14 teams in super league due mainly to the lack of both money & player availability, so when clubs have spent lots of money on facilities etc they still cant get into super league. London have had to disband their academy & either them or us may get demoted next year & wakie may get promoted so the yo-yo system starts again.

The fact that London are relegated without even stepping on to the field just shows that the new system isn’t fit for purpose.

How can you offer long term security to clubs when it’s out of their hands? With P&R it’s simple, play well and the club will succeed and stay up, pair that with good back room management and things should be ok.

The fact that we haven’t had anything back from our appeal is a joke and the club should be making this public and voicing their concerns. This is having a direct effect on our future and needs to be sorted.

My gut feeling is, the results will stay as they are.
We’ll have to wait untill the end of next season or when ever it is to find out the official results on where teams stand…….or certain teams.

I am no apologiser for the RFL/SLE (lets be clear, IMG are their change agents and working to a directive), or equally our own lamentable approach to standards over 25 years - but this is the rub of the argument now.

Is there any point in the 2024 season? If you perform really well, finish 4th with a CC final for example as Cas - but then end up away at Batley for game 1 in 2025 and only find out at the end of the season - that wouldn’t be fair and allow clubs to make good contract decisions when you are relegated with no notice. Impractical already as we will have multi-year contracts in place and so legal challenge is inevitable.

Or, RFL declare the position before the season kicks off, which in essence for some clubs outside the golden 12 means the season is void and you may as well not bother. Another utter folly and if Toulouse and Wakey are in the golden 12, that largely renders the championship season tainted as well.

At best I suspect we can only enforce these gradings in 2025 as a pragmatic view. That doesn’t make them any better as a criteria, but on a practical level in their current form it is a bit of a mess.
