Sounds like he’ll be taking up the coaching position over at Wakey. Would be a good appointment for them, even though his time at Wire wasn’t the best he’s a great coach and could be a thorn for us if they make it back in to SL.

He’ll do ok for them in the championship, although i think his best days as a top level coach are probably behind him. The game has moved on there. All Wakeys young players may as well move on though, they aren’t getting a chance whilst he’s there.

He’ll do well but you get him and all if his staff, which does not come cheap. It’s also failed badly since 2018.

Now that it’s confirmed I guess we’ll see how Powell does in the championship. We all know what he’s capable of and with new owners at the helm it could be an interesting season for them.

Things we know about Powell:

He wants a big squad
He doesn’t want juniors
He wants all his staff to go with him which costs
He’s a Cas supporter and a likeable bloke

I have been reading the full IMG criteria and as I understand it, teams are only considered for promotion under IMG if they win the grand final and have a better grading than the bottom side in superleague, unless things change now that London are back in the mix.

We all know that expansion is the holy grail

Superleague needs to expand to 14 and the championship and L1 combine to make the season worthwhile at the second level

I was under the impression it was the top rated 12 teams each year that get into the top division.

On this now I suppose, get 11th and your golden as long as the championship winner doesn’t score more IMG points, unless you have a grade A licence and you stay up forever.
