TheFirm You could argue we are in a similar, if not even more desperate, situation.
We certainly need a coach who will rebuild the squad and replace all the dead wood (old & tired pack) with new, younger, fitter, eager players. the big problem for Cas is that we don't have the finances to replace all the departed with established players. Even worse, we can't do anything until the players are off contract. For the remainder of this season we have to use what we have.
After rewarding our 2017 squad with extended contracts, all new signings needed to be young guns with promise. ready to learn and come in as and when the old legs have been put up to rest. Sadly, and in particular under Radford, we brought in players of a similar age to what we already had. Tried and trusted but, as in the words of Bob Dylan, knock, knock, knocking on heaven's door!
The Catalans games is THE opportunity to throw in our young talent and give them free reign to show their stuff. Tell them a good performance will see them retain their place, barring injury. Make it clear to the old guard that they are not guaranteed a spot and that they need to demonstrate they deserve a spot. Let's see who fancies running up Queen's Park hill with a log on their back?
