Win is a win but I think we took our rare chances. Three soft tries by us, and I’m not convinced by Olpherts’ try either but I was watching from behind so can’t comment from either live or video.
Defensively it felt more assured but I still think we got easily beat at the ruck, and that the result is more down to poor Catalans (who I felt were the better side for large portions of the game) than us.
In particular, their halves were much better and controlling. Poor execution and too many errors let them down in strong areas. I think they should and could have put us away comfortably with their field position.
I think that many of the players who have had criticism have proven a bit of a point, though, which is good. Hopefully that will build confidence and spur the side on now.
