Happy Days 👏👏👏 Castleford Tigers can confirm that Lee Radford has been relieved of his First Team duties by mutual agreement. Assistant Coach Andy Last will take charge of the First Team for the Fords’ upcoming fixture at Huddersfield Giants on Friday night. Radford wanted to make the following statement: “With the club and myself heading in different directions, I think making this early call will be the correct one. Hopefully, it can kick start their season starting this Friday away at Huddersfield. “I’d like to thank on record the fans, management, coaching staff, and players and wish them all the best for 2023 and beyond.” Everyone at the Club would like to thank Lee for his time in charge of the First Team. The Club's Board of Directors will now begin the search for its next permanent Head Coach and would ask everyone to get behind Andy Last and the team in the interim period

Think it's the right call. As I said in the other thread his style of rugby and the players brought in just don't work for us. Not sure who's available at the moment but we need someone who'll bring that spark back. Fingers crossed that will give the team a good shuffle too.

Good decision by the good.

So now we are searching for a new coach.
Not sure who is available.

I’d like to see us go into the Aussie market.
Someone fresh with a clean slate.
There’s plenty of good assistants out there.

Cheap option maybe but Danny MacGuire has a winning mentality and is probably the best of the cheap options.

I cant see an Aussie coming over with the state of the Game in the UK and IMGs idiotic rehashing of previous failures

The Walker brothers and the completely unique brand of Rugby they play would be perfect, failing that Danny Ward who should have been the choice when they gave Radford the job.

Depends what the assignment is, the coach is a symptom in my opinion of the lack of clear leadership of a club as a whole.

If it is a matter of do what you can, or is it build over 2-3 years? That would inform my choice and sadly, I am not sure we know!

Andy Last just does not sit right with me.
Cant see anything changing with him in charge be the same team same tactics same results.

If we have any desire as a club to try and maintain our future as play off contenders we need to get get this appointment right. No point going for the cheap option and then replacing them in a years time when we’re in this situation again.

Dave Woods has thrown his name in to the hat. Been a long time since he was at Cas and I'm not sure what he has done over the years. Still talks very highly of the club though and said he'd love to give it a shot.

Not sure he's the right choice but we'd have the passion and discipline there.

Dave Woods has been scouting for St Helens down under for years, He also managed their recent trip to Aus for them .

I think he would be a great addition as director of rugby , guiding Matt Adamson who has expressed interest in the job.
could we afford them both, or even one of them?
