Going in to the season I was quite confident about our squad on paper, after seeing the first few games and catching up on the highlights of yesterday I feel we could be in for a hard season if changes don't come in soon.
I know we have quite a few new players and a brand new HB partnership but even if that clicks we're slow and we play boring rugby. We were so sucessful in 2017 as we didn't mind throwing the ball around and had the squad capable of making those plays. Mamo tries but nobody is around him or can seem to keep up, our HBs kicking game puts us on the back foot every time as we don't chase the ball and we have no forwards capable of getting us up the field.
Radford and his style of coaching just doesn't work for Cas. We can't just play the 5 drives and a kick game, our defence isn't strong enough to hold the other team out and we lack basic creativity to score a try.
I don't know who we'd bring in but Widdop can go for me, he wasn't great at Warrington and I don't think he'll contibute much here, Ellis needs to retire or drop down a league - he was great for us but SL is too much now.
Turner again has been good for us but he's not the centre we need and Fonua and Faraimo can go too. Eden / Sutcliffe and Mamo / Broadbent / QQ would give us more of a spark and some much needed creativity.
I'd like to see Robb get more game time too, McShane is awesome but you can see he's struggling - maybe a couple of new forwards coming in and a shuffle of our HBs could give him a better platform to work with.
It's still very early but the season will soon catch up with us and we'll be finding ourselves stuck in a relegation battle. I'd rather us get it sorted early to give us a chance than wait until we're half way through the season without a win.
