Is the the plans for the stadium rebuild?

I know I sound cynical, but I have been to see more plans and briefings over the years, I can't get enthusiastic about it yet. Feels like world peace, some etherical concept that I know is a good thing, but can't believe it until I see something happen.

There was someone on the site we’re the units are going today let’s hope we see more of this now.

I know less than Jon Snow so don't listen to me but I do think this will happen. There is a demand for commercial space, it's worth it to Axiom and I don't see why the Council would oppose any of it. I guess we will need new cones by now?

Planning App now submitted for both the ground and Axiom. Hopefully this is not just another dream phase and will come to fruition. We simply cannot keep saying we're going to do this...

FlatCapper The Supporters Steering Group were told directly by the developer that the money will be provided to the club immediately after the planning is approved by the council. We shall see...

I have seen the planning application / the plans & associated documents, which are extensive to say the least, lord knows how much that must have cost to put all those drawings & documents together. it states that a figure of 12.2 million will be given from axiom to add to the 2 million from the council to fund the development, now lets all prey again🙏🏻

I can understand if I was in one of the 10 or so houses on Spittal Hardwick Lane that would face the site being directly across the road. But at least Axiom have tried to help by putting a hill and established trees in the way.

Unfortunately you don't own the view from your house. Unless you own that land. I'm sure that most of us would love to live opposite an open green space but more people means more houses and supplies. Thus more jobs to pay for them.

It is a matter of maths for the council who are broke. 2000 jobs to build it and the jobs after means less dole money. Rates and the like goes into their coffers. And the best bit is, it didn't cost them a penny. The council can't afford to turn it down.

ROAR have managed to get the support/object timetable started again. It's normally 21 days but they have complained about the signs being put on the wrong place and so it's started again. Last date is now 26th January.

Time to push for the support side.

I've added my support on the planning portal and also stressed the importance of backing the redevelopment to Yvette Cooper and her team. Let's hope they stay proactive in pushing for it's approval.

Over 1000 in support for both plans , the worrying thing is that ROAR group of NIMBYs . they are gaining votes against.
Every Cas fan needs to get on and register their support for Axiom and the Cas ground.
Every little helps as they say.

Just a note for everyone, it is not a democratic process, not a process based on which view has most votes.

It is a case of considering each objection, whether it has any value and if so, whether it can be addressed by appropriate planning conditions.

Clearly, the amount of for or against will be considered but the facts of the application are far more important.

Just seen in the planning portal for the Axiom site that the objections have gone up because people are adding extra comments to their objections but with a new comment tally. If that makes sense. Basically commenting numerous times from the same email.

If you read the casforum, Scirocco7 had posted the link to the planning portal and the response to the environment agency is there.

Having read it in full, there is only an extra 7 metre displacement with the new build and with the new work, is unlikely to be triggered unless a once in a 1000 year flood happens.

The planners have accepted that they will keep the gutters and drains clear.

In the event of one in a 100 year flooding, it is noted that this would be because of a failure the flood defences constructed by the environment agency.

So in conclusion, that’s the last hurdle for the ground part. I’ll have to read further to see if the axiom site has had any updates.

Just looked at the axiom build plans and they have responded to each point. It’s not possible to view whilst on my mobile, so I’ll have a look later.

So in conclusion of my earlier conclusion. The planners responses have to satisfy themselves that the issues raised are dealt with before the November planning meeting. If there’s no further issues then it’s a rubber stamping time.

Again a lot of work and money gone to fulfill the planners issues. Do people still think that the builders are doing all this to not fulfill either plan?

GMI are the project planners and builders for the sites and will complete the ground refurb in full and we have to put our 2m from the council in.

Hoping for good news in November.

RaoulDuke The EA will respond to our mitigations. What they say will decide whether it’s a rubber stamping exercise. We haven’t actually altered much at all on the WR application, just said that much of what is required is not feasible so sadly i’d be surprised if the EA changed their stance on the back of that.

TheFirm and more to the point is that their stance is only a recommendation and holds no power. We have still given extra assurances and added work. Ten extra houses on wheldon road wiould have the same impact as our new extended stand. Strangely enough the knocking down of the nestle factory hasn’t been a reduction in flood risk, v when it should add it’s no longer a factory and grass land.

RaoulDuke I’m afraid that is incorrect. The EA have officially objected to the WR plans and given they are a statutory consultee and as such their stance holds a lot of power, a positive response by them to our our reply is vital to it’s chances of passing.

I am unsure why it hasn’t been noted about the removal of the nestle factory actually decreasing the flood risk. What will happen there as it’ll be unsellable land if cas is refused.

I wonder what they used as a point for the removal of the school for all the flats/houses to get that through.

If the unthinkable happens and Axiom get the go ahead but our plans are refused, do Axiom still have to give us that money or do we revert to the new build at glasshoughton?

They don’t get planning if the ground doesn’t. It’s a hybrid planning application. The Cas one gets passed, then they pass the axiom but it’s only valid when they have paid the 12.2m into the ground account for our rebuild.

The EA have replied and they are maintaining their objection and recommending the application is refused. Given they are a statutory consultee is it highly unlikely the planning commitee would go against this.

We have a major problem now.

But I’d bet if the place was knocked down the EA would be quick to pass the site for houses.

If that happens then what? The development at J32 can’t go ahead unless they backtrack and the stadium goes ahead there.

At this point if we can’t even upgrade our current stadium without objections then the club is pretty much done. At some point the facilities will become unsafe and too expensive to keep going leaving us without anywhere to play.
