I know I sound cynical, but I have been to see more plans and briefings over the years, I can't get enthusiastic about it yet. Feels like world peace, some etherical concept that I know is a good thing, but can't believe it until I see something happen.

I know less than Jon Snow so don't listen to me but I do think this will happen. There is a demand for commercial space, it's worth it to Axiom and I don't see why the Council would oppose any of it. I guess we will need new cones by now?

Planning App now submitted for both the ground and Axiom. Hopefully this is not just another dream phase and will come to fruition. We simply cannot keep saying we're going to do this...

FlatCapper The Supporters Steering Group were told directly by the developer that the money will be provided to the club immediately after the planning is approved by the council. We shall see...

I have seen the planning application / the plans & associated documents, which are extensive to say the least, lord knows how much that must have cost to put all those drawings & documents together. it states that a figure of 12.2 million will be given from axiom to add to the 2 million from the council to fund the development, now lets all prey again🙏🏻

Looking at the statement, the EA problem at WR is the only thing left to do and that can be sorted with a bit of money. Even if the club has to pony up, it can’t be left to fail on that. The area needs the jobs, the council needs the income and the club needs it to survive.

It also says the plans are in or were in in 2022, so when it comes up (hopefully January or before, they seem to be waiting for a date from the council) it should be a rubber stamping moment.

What I would like to see is confirmation of a start date from the developers, we can’t wait for it then to be put on the back burner. Also confirmation that the ground will be completed before the Axiom is allowed to open.

This is the most optimistic I’ve felt about this in ages.

Yup,must admit I’m in a far better place following the Axiom statement. I know this is a Cas-centric forum but even if you take the rugby out of the development equation, the creation of 2,200 jobs in an area desperate for them is massive. It would be huge for the local economy and the savings just in terms of benefits would be in the region of £10 million a year, and that’s without the associated costs and increased spending power those newly employed would have. Surely it would be in Wakefield councils interest to facilitate these developments, I know they have set rules to follow and criteria to meet but surely if there’s a compromise to be had both sides should be willing to explore it. Played right this whole situation apart from the odd nimby whose view will be changed is an absolute Win Win, for the town,it’s people and importance for us the Tigers.
